“May I Have Your Free Magazines?”

Library Tales: Cartoon by Mike Ferman

Jason, a library assistant I work with, learned the hard way that you have to be precise in your wording. When a woman came to him one day and asked him if she could have our free magazines, he told her she could take anything she wanted. He went out into our breezeway later to discover that not only had she taken the magazines, she had also taken the wooden bin on metal legs that we kept them in.
